Mike made it through the night fairly well with the trach. His fever is back up again, but that was expected after the surgery. He had a few spikes in his pressure, but they drained off some fluid and it went back down. He has been resting quietly since.
As of the 10:00 am visit he is doing well. They are planning on trying to take the shunt out in the next day or two if Mike continues to do as well as he is. After that they will look at putting him in a halo for his neck fracture. At this time he is breathing over the ventilator. They are going to try and slowly wean him off of the ventilator now. He is NOT on any sedation now.
For those that are wondering, Mike's face is void of any injuries. Look at any of the pictures of him on the blog...this is how he looks. The nurses shaved him yesterday and since the ventilation tube is out, he just looks like he is resting. Because of these factors, Baylee got to see her Daddy today, for the first time since the accident. Ericka said that it really seemed to help Baylee...getting to see Mike.

Mike, Ericka and family...You are all in our prayers. If ever a man was deserving of a second chance at life it would be Mike Carter. God has a purpose for Mike and I truly believe that. Ericka, it is through your amazing strength that Mike will pull through this. If there is anything we can do please let us know. I will continue to pray daily for you guys.

I'm so glad Baylee got to see her daddy. I'm sure it was a big relief to her. I'm sure she's felt lots of stress with people asking her about her dad.
