Who is Mike Carter?

Mike is a father of five, a friend to many, a respected co-worker and supervisor, and a husband.

A Quick Overview...

On January 5, 2008, around 7:00 p.m., Mike Carter was broad-sided by a tractor-trailer truck just outside of Logansport, Louisiana. He sufferered extensive head trauma and numerous broken bones. He remains in a coma in the SICU at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.

Mike is the father of five children ranging in age from 4 to 20. He is a husband, father, and supervisor for AEP/Swepco in Shreveport.

His wife Ericka is incurring the additional cost for parking, hospital meals, and gas to be by Mike’s side. Not to mention, additional out of pocket medical expenses in the future.

A future which is as of yet, unknown.

February 18th - Day 45

As of yesterday, Mike hasn't had much change. Ericka said that he actually had a restful day.
He was having some problems with his blood pressure, but they now have him on medication and that is stabilized. He is being treated for a urinary tract infection and is still recovering from pneumonia. He is still currently going through physical therapy twice a day. And yes, he is still in a coma.

The benefit rabbit hunt raised over $2200 this past Saturday. I have heard that they will probably try to do another fundraiser in the near future.

Ericka remains optimistic and faithful.

PRAYERS FOR MIKE said...

Ericka,
I just wanted you to know that Mike, you and the kids are still very much in my prayers and heart. I called Saturday and talked to Kevin Hubier a long time. I don't call as much, not because I am not still very much concerned, I just hate to bother Sonny, and 99.9% I read on here. Mike is so lucky to have you as a wife and such great friends. I have prayer chains going all over the US, and abroad. If you ever need me to do one single thing, you know I will be there in a flash. I love you all and as we both know the Lord never puts more on us than we can handle, and he has plans for my little friend, so I try not to question. My heart, prayers and love are with you.
