Who is Mike Carter?

Mike is a father of five, a friend to many, a respected co-worker and supervisor, and a husband.

A Quick Overview...

On January 5, 2008, around 7:00 p.m., Mike Carter was broad-sided by a tractor-trailer truck just outside of Logansport, Louisiana. He sufferered extensive head trauma and numerous broken bones. He remains in a coma in the SICU at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.

Mike is the father of five children ranging in age from 4 to 20. He is a husband, father, and supervisor for AEP/Swepco in Shreveport.

His wife Ericka is incurring the additional cost for parking, hospital meals, and gas to be by Mike’s side. Not to mention, additional out of pocket medical expenses in the future.

A future which is as of yet, unknown.

Update

Mike is doing well in Houston. They continue to work on his strength as he lost so much in January, February and March. Therapy is continuing to use a soft cast to stretch his left arm in hopes of bringing it out of the 90 degree angle that it tends to stay in. Speech is working with recognition techniques. Insurance has approved a new wheelchair that will fit Mike better as the other one was just too big. Sonny and I continue to be very pleased. The kids and I will be there this Friday. I have a meeting scheduled with the physicians for an update on Mike's prognosis. Sonny and I still do not know what Mike's future holds but he is in very good hands at TIRR and we continue to pray for the best as God continues to be in control. I also want to thank Kevin and Robin for visiting Mike in between Sonny and my visits. We could not do this without you two. You mean the world to our families.

erica. this is jana hicks. i want u 2 know the kids and i think of u all the time. mike was and is such a wonderful person and all we can do is continue 2 pray mike will make a full recovery.we love u all and please remember u all r in our prayers. never give up hope.
