Copied from an email from Ericka:
The trach came out Monday---yeah! The weekend was good, i actually felt good when I left Sunday. the kids did good when they visited each time. I can tell that his muscles are more relaxed and that he is not as tight as he has been. He continues with therapy and has responded to a few single commands but they have been inconsistent. He really did not respond to us at all but I was so pleased to see that he looked so much more healthy. He had gained 9 lbs. He actually kept his eyes open the whole time we visited each time and would close them from time to time but would open them again so that was nice.
foot surgery went good. They look great. This was done so that when it comes time for him to stand or walk, his feet will be flat on the floor. The echo was normal. he has a small aortic valve leak but the cardiologist said nothing to worry about and that his function was good.
Who is Mike Carter?

You know Mike is like my little brother, and I love him as such. God knows that Mike is needed here, he is not through with him, here on this earth. We do not know Mike either, but we found out about his accident at the Shreveport Linemans Rodeo. This page has become an inspiration to me. Ericka, you have become an inspiration to me.It is wonderful to see such a Godly woman putting her faith and family first in such a tough situation. It is clear that you have really put God first and the committment to Mike first. It is something that many people need to see. You are truly an inspiration.
Let me explain, a few years back a family member of ours was injured in a work related accident. He was left as an invalid, and confined to a bed. Not long after the accident, the wife decided that since he was no longer a "real man" (her words), it would be fine to fill his shoes with a "friend" - for the kids sake. This was only a couple of months after the accident - and she said she was a faith-filled woman. It was very sad for all of us and it ripped the family apart. That is why you and your family have come to mean so much to me. A true Christian woman that is sticking to the promise that she made before God. How proud God must be of you.
I will continue to pray for you.
Just another lineman's wife.
