Who is Mike Carter?

Mike is a father of five, a friend to many, a respected co-worker and supervisor, and a husband.

A Quick Overview...

On January 5, 2008, around 7:00 p.m., Mike Carter was broad-sided by a tractor-trailer truck just outside of Logansport, Louisiana. He sufferered extensive head trauma and numerous broken bones. He remains in a coma in the SICU at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport.

Mike is the father of five children ranging in age from 4 to 20. He is a husband, father, and supervisor for AEP/Swepco in Shreveport.

His wife Ericka is incurring the additional cost for parking, hospital meals, and gas to be by Mike’s side. Not to mention, additional out of pocket medical expenses in the future.

A future which is as of yet, unknown.

Update - Mike will be coming back to Shreveport

I am sorry that I have been so long in getting an update on Mike for the blog. Mike continues to be healthy and is doing well. He is at Touchstone NeuroRecovery in Houston. Sonny and I are currently in the process of working with insurance and Touchstone to transition Mike's move back to Shreveport. Blue Cross has determined that Mike's level of improvement has slowed down and it is not necessary for him to be in a rehab facility. After several physician meetings, phone calls to insurance and discussions with our local physician here in Shreveport, Mike should be back in Shreveport by the end of June. Please continue to pray for Mike, his health, his mental recovery, and our family. As soon as we get Mike settled in, I will let everyone know where he will be so that everyone can visit him and spend as much time as possible with him.
